A mindful leader is one who recognizes the challenges and experiences of a diverse population. This workshop will allow participants to access the experience of education via the mind, emotions, and challenges facing the LGBTQ student and staff member. Engaging in experiential activities, participants will be able to view the obstacles LGBTQ students and staff encounter when navigating the waters of day-to-day social interactions, deciding how to act in a multitude of situations, when it is safe to talk about their personal lives and when it isn’t/why it isn’t, and ways that we can all make a positive difference in how LGBTQ individuals view their interactions in the context of the educational environment.
